Funeral Planning At Time of Need
Funeral Planning – There is a trend in many markets across the country when someone plans a funeral when a loved on dies. Many are actually shocked at what it costs to bury a loved one. There are many cases where the deceased had purchased pre-need and thought that “they were covered.”
Many find out there are additional expenses; such as open and closing of the grave, memorial markers etc. So many of us avoid having this conversation only to pay dearly at the end. Instead of focusing on the many memories with our loved ones, we end up trying to figure out how to pay for it.

Funeral Planning in a bad Economy
There has been some bad news on the economic front this past week. In recent poll on NPR, some sobering facts emerged about Americans and their personal finances. Funeral Planning is not at the top of most peoples priorities.
One in four Americans don’t have enough finances to carry them for more than one week if their paycheck stopped. Half of all Americans are not able to raise $2000 in 30 days if they had to. This is scary, considering what a funeral costs these days. Depending on the area of the country you live in, the average cost is between $8,000 to $12,000! Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

Inside the Life of an Undertaker
It was the definition of an odd job. Canadian radio journalist Tom Jokinen took a job as an apprentice undertaker in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He spent a year poking and prodding his way to a deeper understanding of what happens after people die, but before they’re gone forever.
In his new book Curtains: Adventures of an Undertaker-in-Training he tells all the gory details. Jokinen spoke to TIME about the most difficult-to-stomach parts of being a mortician and why cremation is the way to go.

Dying in a Recession
When the economy slows down so do we. We cut back on expenses, expensive dinners, lavish vacations and even cable! We try to cut expenses wherever we can. We stop doing a lot of the excesses that helped cause the problem. However, we don’t stop dying! Trust me, its not any cheaper because we’re in a recession!
People are absolutely blown away at the high cost of dying. These are a lot of the people who have avoided the issue like an ostrich with his head in the sand. You can pay now or pay later, sound familiar?

Death and Inflation
In these inflationary times people are more aware of how and what they spend their money on. Buying preneed cemetery and funerals has been popular for generations. Those who had the wisdom and foresight to have bought years ago are glad they did.
Still you have procrastinators who will inevitably leave the problem for a loved one to take care of. Nothing could be more selfish. Not only is the family dealing with the loss of their loved one, they are also trying to figure out how they are going to pay for it!

Final touch: A Cosmetic Lift for Your Funeral?
The recent boom in cosmetic procedures has raised the bar for many of us when it comes to appearance. And, it turns out, the dead are no exception. See preperation of the dead
As the population has become increasingly sophisticated about procedures to enhance their appearance, so have their requests, morticians say, for smoothing lines, plumping lips and even boosting sagging parts for that last big special occasion — their funeral.
